Marek Jakubowski began playing the piano at the age of four in his native Poland. After his family immigrated to the US, he attended the Manhattan School of Music's prep division for six years, where he studied piano, theory, played chamber music, and sang in the chorus. When it was time for college, he chose to pursue a career in science over music. Marek completed his doctorate in Environmental Science at UC Berkeley and worked in the field for many years.
However, his passion for music never waned. Eventually, Marek decided to return to his musical roots. He trained under piano restoration experts in different parts of the country, learning the art of tuning and restoring pianos. Recently, Marek opened his own piano shop, California Pianos, in Bishop, CA, where he tunes, services, restores, and sells pianos.
Marek's goal is to help bring more beautiful music to the Eastern Sierra. He is thrilled to be accompanying the Eastern Sierra Community Chorus as part of that vision.
Your contribution will enable us to support our mission to deliver music in the Eastern Sierras.. We are very grateful for your generosity.
